After 30+ years as a fine art photographer, Erin Kellem has turned to original mixed media works. After years of photographic reproductions, it's charming to her that each work is an original piece of art. Erin's artistic fascination with light is carried over from her previous work in photography. Light is everything: The play of highlights and shadows in landscapes, clouds and water and and how those elements influence color.
She has been creating mixed media originals since 2018 using paper, reclaimed foil, acrylic paint and resin. The collections of work are mountainscapes, moonscapes, and seascapes.
Her newest series are an exploration the luminosity of clouds. Using pigment-enhanced resin, each original in this series has many, many layers of varying transparency resin to explore the way shifting light reveals the nuances of cloud formations.
