Fine Art Instruction - Landscapes in Oils
Due to flood conditions, my studio is closed until further notice. We are seeking alternative workspaces for classes and workshops until we hear more about occupancy of Riverview Station, the heart of the River Arts District. Postal mail will be forwarded. Digital contacts remain the same.
I cannot imagine my life without oil painting. It has become part of my practice since I can recall picking up a brush. I prefer to work on location and enjoy materials that are sourced from nature: pigments and paint derived from minerals, flax (linseed) oil and linen; earthy pigments, turpentine, natural fiber brushes The craft of painting, taking advantage of oil paint's luminosity and rich color, is a rich heritage with a long lineage.
I graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design in 1984, and opened my first studio not long after. My wife and I moved to Asheville in 1996, and have been in the River Arts District since 2002. We have weekly ongoing painting sessions in my studio, plein-air classes on location around Asheville, demos and workshops. Visit my website to learn more. https:///www.Johnmackah.com
