I cannot imagine my life without oil painting. It has become part of my practice since I can recall picking up a brush. I prefer to work on location and enjoy materials that are sourced from nature: pigments and paint derived from minerals, flax (linseed) oil and linen; earthy pigments, turpentine, natural fiber brushes The craft of painting, taking advantage of oil paint's luminosity and rich color, is a rich heritage with a long lineage.

I graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design in 1984, and opened my first studio not long after. My wife and I moved to Asheville in 1996, and have been in the River Arts District since 2002.
