When possible, I prefer to paint outside and love experiencing the awakening of all my senses "en plein air" with brush to canvas. Capturing the essence and mood of a scene at that moment in time by the water or on a mountain top, is what I'm particularly drawn to. I like to paint expressively, free and confident, using brush and palette knife work, my fingers and various unique, exploratory tools. The lush foreground textures one can create in oils is absolutely magical and keeps the eye engaged and meandering about.
