Porcelain Clay Art
When Laura Peery discovered clay she was drawn in by its magic ability to mimic fabric. Inspired by costume design, vintage textiles and embellishments, her porcelain and mixed media objects are composed and assembled as if from a dressmaker’s pattern. Fabrics pressed onto the surface provide texture, cutting and darting give shape and form. The gently hued surfaces are created using ceramic colorants that are brushed, sprayed and layered. No two pieces are alike. Peery alters each piece until it is exactly right in shape, color and size, and, to her eye, a perfect fit. Visit Laura's website at www.laurapeery.art
