Modern Folk Art with Acrylics on Wood Panel, with local artist Michelle Hamilton

Whimsical, colorful, full of character & “gingerbread”! Join local artist Michelle Hamilton for a fun afternoon learning to create a mixed media layered botanical piece, using collage elements and acrylic paints.

Bring visual muse of a floral or botanical image that inspires you!

In this class, you will learn to create a textured background on wood panel using acrylic paints and tools that create texture. From there Michelle will guide you in creating a loose sketch, inspired by your botanical muse, that you will transfer onto your wood panel. Working from your loose sketch on panel, you will learn techniques in building up layers of your image with collage papers, and last but not least- learn the art of “mark-making” or adding the final details, which Michelle referes to as “the gingerbread” using tools such as kuretake gold pens, posca paint pens, as well as acrylic fine-tip paint bottles to add marks such as dots, lines, shape & detail.
