Self (or other) Portrait Collage

In this class you will create a type of “self-portrait” collage — of yourself or someone else — which is far from a traditional portrait. You will bring your subconscious inner self and humor to paper and surprise yourself. Don’t be afraid to dive into your inner self, be playful! You will create with deep thought and humor. Every piece will be as unique as we all are.

What to bring to class: pair of sharp scissors and multiple pieces to choose from, such as copies of personal photos, images from magazines (or complete magazines to share), print-offs from the internet, copies out of books, favorite quotes or poems, pieces of wallpaper or sheet music, handmade papers, or any personal items that can be glued to paper. Original photos can also be included but they may be altered in the process.

Provided by instructor: base to create on, additional papers, glues, paints, markers, coloring pens, and paint brushes.
