Undersea Landscape Collage with Li Newton

Goals:
– Experiment and have fun.
– Learn basic analog (cut by hand) paper collage techniques.
– Basic cutting and gluing, building layers to create depth.
– Learn to look at paper images with new eyes.

This workshop will teach you how to look at images in a new way. You will look for colors and textures to create your own coral reef and the creatures that inhabit it. Photos of vegetables, abstract textures, everyday objects, even Hubble satellite images will become sea-fans, anemones, coral and fantasy fish.

You will leave with a finished 10” X 10” wood panel Underwater Fantasy Collage.

I will provide: Practice panel, wood panels, scissors, gel medium, paper towels, variety of papers.
You will provide:
– Extra papers, magazines, old cards, anything tearable. Seed catalogs are a good source.
– Exacto knife or your own sharp scissors.
– Pencil.
– Vinyl gloves if you want glue free fingers.
– Clothes you don’t mind getting glue on.

Don’t forget a lunch and beverage.
