Bespoke: Block Printing on Paper & Fabric with local artist Jessica Kaufman

Join us for a Friday evening of community & creativity, learning to design, carve and print with your very own handmade stamps! Led by local textile artist, Jess Kaufman.

This was our very first class that we offered post-Helene, and we’ve had requests to offer this one again, so here you go!

In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn the skills needed to design & carve your own unique linoleum stamps, while creating beautiful prints with them over and over on both paper and fabric. Print on our tote bags or tea towels – or a fabric/clothing item you bring from home! The first half of class will be devoted to understanding the fundamentals of good design, layout, and carving out of any simple image you would like. We will then spend about an hour printing with your stamps, each others’, and the instructor’s collection. Each student will be provided with two hand dyed cotton tea towels, or a tea towel and one canvas tote, but please feel free to bring one (1) item of clothing to make more magic onto from your home collection. Solid, light colors work best! 

Oh, and you will leave with your own unique hand-carved stamps to use again and again in your art projects (collage, mixed media, future fabric projects, etc…)

All materials you need are included with this class. No experience needed!

Please wear clothes that can get dirty!
